Donald Trump fires sidekick Carolyn

Donald Trump has fired his sidekick from "The Apprentice," Carolyn Kepcher, after she reportedly became too enamored with her fame from the show.

Kepcher was relieved of her duties as general manager of Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff, N.Y., earlier this week.

Sources tell People magazine that Trump had been unhappy with her performance for some time.

The source says, "This has been brewing for over a year. He has tried to get her on the phone, and she was either off giving a speech or was hard to reach."

The real estate mogul reportedly felt that Kepcher was promoting her own career more than his golf course.

The source adds, "She was supposed to be managing the golf course. She was supposed to be selling memberships. That's her job to sell memberships, and she just wasn't doing it.

"With the book, the speaking engagements and these endorsement deals, he's looking at that and thinking, 'She's supposed to be working for me. Yet, she is off creating her own empire.'"

Trump's representative Jim Dowd's only comment on the firing was, "Mr. Trump wishes her the best."

Haley Joel Osment's photo op at a cop shop earlier this month proves one thing -- celebs have figured out how to take a good mugshot.

Osment was arrested on August 18, a month after he crashed his 1995 Saturn into a brick pillar in Los Angeles. The "Sixth Sense" star was charged with misdemeanor driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a .08 blood alcohol level or higher, with an enhancement of driving with a .15 or higher.

Osment was also charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana while driving.

CNN gets caught with its pants down

CNN’s Kyra Phillips got caught, well, with her skirt down. Someone at CNN left her mic open and on the air as she went to the bathroom in the middle of President Bush’s speech commemorating the Katrina anniversary. So instead of getting the president’s remarks, CNN’s audience got that and Phillips in some girl-chat.

Update:
CNN apologized Tuesday after an open mike transmitted an anchor’s bathroom conversation with another woman live over the network as it was carrying President Bush’s speech in New Orleans.

Jessica Simpson starts to promote new CD; Dates John Mayer

Jessica Simpson is embarking on a not-so-public affair – with singer-songwriter John Mayer, PEOPLE has confirmed.

"She's tiptoeing back into the dating world," a source tells PEOPLE. "It's the first stage. She's never been happier."

Mayer, 28, began a co-headlining tour with Sheryl Crow on Aug. 24, and Simpson, 26, is expected to attend his concert in Jones Beach, N.Y., on Wednesday night.

Simpson is currently in New York promoting her new album, A Public Affair, which was released Tuesday – although a bruised vocal cord has quashed any planned performances. Similarly, Mayer had to cancel his Hartford, Conn., appearance with Crow on Saturday due to laryngitis, the Associated Press reported.

The two singers have known each other for several years and last year both attended Clive Davis's pre-Grammys party in Beverly Hills.

So how bad did Tara feel as former BFF Paris Hilton came sauntering by and breezed inside, as Tara could only stand on the sidewalk and steam?? Look closely, you can actually see her heart deflate ... before completely shattering.

And, as if it all isn't humiliating enough, Paris brought new BFF Kim Kardashian -- known for nothing -- along for the ride. Kim was allowed to enter effortlessly.

"Girls Gone Wild" creator Joe Francis had a few kind words with Tara as he left the club, but words are cheap. He didn't give her the assist she needed for entry. What ever happened to the "one out / one in" policy?

Sources tell TMZ that Tomei gave one of her best performances yet, as she begged the officer to let her slide. Among her reported tactics; repeatedly batting her long luscious eyelashes and continuously flashing her pearly whites.

Tomei's flirt session worked like a charm! The officer fell for the act hook, line & sinker and allowed the actress to drive away with only a warning!
