Bobby Brown gets jeered at Essense Music Festival

Bobby Brown reunited with his former band, New Edition – with his longstanding reputation as a bad boy remaining as carefully intact as ever.

Brown, who left the soulful group in the 1980s for his own solo career, was back with the band – original members Ralph Tresvant, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins and Ronnie DeVoe, plus Johnny Gill, who replaced Brown – for two songs at Sunday night's Essence Music Festival in Houston.

As the other five members carefully stepped in time to the prepared choreography, Brown ran around the stage wildly and performed raunchy dance moves, reports the Associated Press.

After the men brought the crowd to its feet with their rendition of the 1985 hit "Mr. Telephone Man," Brown left the stage, and the others performed several ballads.

Brown, 39, then returned for a solo set that kicked off with "Don't Be Cruel." He followed with some raunchy dancing and utterances about his sex life with wife Whitney Houston.

By the time he wrapped up "My Prerogative," Brown was shirtless and many in the audience reportedly were screaming for him to get off the stage.
