Tom Cruise sends Brooke Sheilds basket of baby gifts

Tom Cruise has moved to end his public feud with new mother Brooke Shields by sending her a basket of baby gifts.

The two stars entered into a war of words last year after Shields championed prescription drugs for new moms suffering from post-partum depression.

The actress went through desperate lows after the birth of her first baby, Rowan, two years ago. Cruise, a Scientologist, is fervently opposed to the prescription of drugs to aid depression and publicly fired off at Shields.

But after the two stars found themselves in the same Los Angeles hospital last month -- becoming parents on the same day -- the war of words has ceased.

To make sure Shields knows she's back in Cruise's good graces, he has sent her baby gifts.

He says, "We sent her a gift and I'm really happy for her. ... We sent her a basket."

Shields insists she'll accept the gift as a token of renewed friendship: "I haven't received it yet but that's awfully kind of him."
