British pop star Boy George is to work in a hospice for HIV victims after a U.S. court slapped him with a community service order for wasting police time.
The former Culture Club star dodged a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence in March, following an incident that saw police seize 13 bags of cocaine from his New York City flat after he falsely reported a burglary. He explained the drugs had been abandoned at his flat after a party.
However, the 44-year-old, real name George O'Dowd, was given five days' community service after pleading guilty to the false burglary report.
He insists he's happy with the AIDS posting, saying, "You can choose things so I'm going to work in a hospice, which is good."
