Former '70s teen heartthrob LEIF GARRETT appeared in a Los Angeles court today, where it was decided that he remain in residential treatment for drug rehabilitation for another month, according to City News Service. Garrett was arrested at an L.A. subway station on January 14 on suspicion of narcotics possession and held without bail for a week. He has been in residential treatment for 42 days.
Outside the Criminal Courts Building, the 44-year-old says he feels "like a different person inside and out."
"I'm going down the right path," he said. "Instead of a dirt road, I've been on a paved road. I don't want to ever be like a slave again."
Garrett's attorney requested that Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner MELISSA WIDDIFIELD allow Garrett to return to outpatient status so he could be with his mother, CAROLYN STELLAR, who was with him in court today. However, the commissioner requested he complete another 30 days of live-in rehab.
