A Los Angeles judge has ordered the entertainer and ex-wife Debbie Rowe to resubmit copies of child custody documents that have gone missing from the duo's divorce file within 30 days. Or else.
Superior Court Judge Robert Schnider ordered Rowe to hand over copies of her 2001 motion to terminate her parental rights to Paris, 8, and Prince Michael, 9, along with the emergency motion she filed in 2003 to reinstate those rights, while the self-proclaimed King of Pop was ordered to provide his opposition to the latter filing.
The hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court Monday came after entertainment Website TMZ.com lodged a complaint with the court over the couple's incomplete divorce file and the presiding judge's reticence at making public the missing documents.
"[Judge Stephen Lachs] has repeatedly denied press access to presumptively open proceedings and court records," the Website's lawyer wrote in a January filing.
