He may not want to, but it looks like Steven Tyler is going to have to miss a few things.
The Aerosmith frontman is scheduled to undergo throat surgery this week to treat an undisclosed health problem, forcing the band to cancel the remaining 12 dates on its North American Rockin' the Joint tour, the band's publicist, Marcee Rondan, said Tuesday.
"Despite Aerosmith's desire to keep the tour going as long as possible, Tyler's doctors advised him not to continue performing to give his voice time to recover," Rondan said in a statement posted on the band's official fansite, aeroforceone.com. "Tyler will be on total vocal rest and can not perform for an extended period of time."
Tyler, who turns 58 on Sunday, is "doing fine," Rondan told the Associated Press, though she did not elaborate on his condition.
Prior to officially canceling the tour, the veteran rockers had already skipped out on a string of recent shows, citing illness but declining to provide details.
