Nick Lachey Files For Spousal Support

Nick Lachey has filed papers in L.A. Superior Court Friday requesting spousal support from Jessica Simpson in response to her divorce petition. Property assets and obligations have not been established yet in the proceedings.

Jessica filed for divorce from Nick in mid-December, citing "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. In her papers, Jessica is seeking to terminate the court's ability to award spousal support to Nick, and wants to restore her name back to "Jessica Simpson" from her legal married name of Jessica Simpson Lachey.

The popular "Newlyweds" fought off break-up rumors for nearly a year, then eventually announced their split last November with the following official statement:

"After three years of marriage, and careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways," the couple said. "This is the mutual decision of two people with an enormous amount of respect and admiration for each other. We hope that you respect our privacy during this difficult time."
