Quotes of the Day from Denis Leary

Denis Leary had a few choice words in the August issue of Playboy Magazine.

on Paris Hilton: "She's not very good at homemade porn. And I’m not talking about the way it was filmed. I’m talking about the actual sex.”

on Adam Sandler: He's doing “the same thing over and over . . . playing the retard-goofball crazy guy.”

on the President: “If he’s doing a good job, Keira Knightley gets told, ‘Part of your job is to [bleep] the president . . . then we’ll put you in a big movie.’ ”

The Spelling Family Drama

Candy Spelling has hit back at estranged daughter Tori for causing a media circus around the death of legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling.

The family released a statement in direct response to Tori's interview in the new issue of Us Weekly magazine, in which she says the news of her father's death came as a complete shock.

The statement, released on Thursday, says, "We are deeply saddened that, during our time of loss and grief, we are forced to respond to the media frenzy caused by the mean-spirited and surprising comments made by Tori to the press, just two days after the passing of Aaron.

"As we try to honor his memory with love and respect, the sudden media frenzy she has created at this sensitive time is hurtful and very disturbing. "Aaron's legacy deserves pure and unadulterated tribute and recognition which, sadly, has been tainted.

"We hope Aaron will be remembered with reverence and spirit for the monumental legacy he has left and not the petty and tabloid headlines which have marred his articles of remembrance."

Star Jones Reynolds: ABC Said to 'Make Up a Story'

Ousted cast member Star Jones Reynolds said Thursday she was told she could "make up a story" about why she was leaving "The View" and her colleagues would have gone along with it.

The news that Reynolds wouldn't have her contract renewed for a 10th year on the daytime talk show exploded this week into a bitter war of words involving show creator Barbara Walters.

Reynolds, appearing Thursday on CNN's "Larry King Live," said she'd been told in April that she wasn't coming back but kept it secret. She revealed it on Tuesday's show, taking Walters and ABC by surprise with the timing.

The truth that Reynolds' ABC bosses didn't want her back because her personal popularity was plummeting might never have been known without the fight.

"They said you can make up a story," Reynolds said. "The audience didn't deserve for me to make up a story. That's not fair."

Longtime ABC newswoman Walters has confirmed the intended deception, but said it was done to protect Reynolds' reputation and feelings.

ABC said it canned Reynolds immediately after Tuesday's show because her announcement, and an interview with People magazine, took the network by surprise. Walters told The Associated Press that she felt betrayed and ABC said it couldn't trust Reynolds to tell the truth if she remained on the air.

Reynolds said she was "having trouble reconciling" ABC's statement with being told earlier that she could lie about her exit.

Jennifer Lopez Tell-All Book by Ex-Husband #1 Halted

Ex-husband of Latin superstar Jennifer Lopez, Ojani Noa has agreed to a preliminary injunction to stop him from publishing (what Lopez describes as) a "negative, denigrating and disparaging" tell-all book about the multi-talented actress until the matter goes to court.

Ojani's announcement prompted the cancellation of today's scheduled court hearing about the matter.

Lopez had filed a suit against Ojani in Los Angeles County Superior Court, claiming among other things, Noa demanded $5 million from Lopez to keep him from selling the tell-all book.

The injunction states that Noa may not disclose for financial gain "any private or intimate details about Lopez or Noa's relationship with her." He is also directed not to sell or disseminate a manuscript of the book and to retrieve any book materials and copies from anyone who may have possession of them.

Reports state that Naomi Watts is pregnant

Actress Naomi Watts is expecting her first baby, according to media reports in Australia.

The actress was in Sydney, Australia, last weekend attending best pal Nicole Kidman's wedding to country star Keith Urban.

Rumors circulated after the stylish star was seen wearing a series of baggy garments and photographed leaving a Brentwood, Calif., fertility clinic.

Sydney's Daily Telegraph newspaper reports it was the second time Watts had been spotted visiting the clinic and that she was "sporting a definite glow" when she attended the Shakespeare in the Park gala in New York City's Central Park with beau Liev Schreiber yesterday.

Watts was also seen visiting Chinese herbalist and fertility expert Lily Liu in Australia, who is renowned for her work assisting women who want to become pregnant.

The star recently admitted she was desperate for children, but was worried it might be too late to conceive: "I wish it could have happened a little bit sooner. I have wanted a family since I was 19."

Axl Rose Blasts Police for 'Blackmail'

Guns N' Roses frontman Axl Rose has blasted Swedish police for blackmailing him into cooperating with their demands.

The singer was being held in a Swedish jail after being arrested in the early hours of Tuesday morning for allegedly biting a security guard during a drunken brawl.

After agreeing to pay a fine of $5,500, he was released from jail. He was also ordered to pay $1,360 in damages to the security guard.

But tour manager Merck Mercuriadis says the star only admitted to the "violent conduct" because he was physically mistreated as well as threatened with up to three weeks behind bars if he didn't. Rose would have missed the tour had he not complied.

Mercuriadis says, "We are in the middle of a tour.

"The Swedish authorities were very aware of this, yet continually threatened us over a 12-hour period with between five days and three weeks incarceration without bail if Axl did not 'cooperate'.

"They were fully aware that there were millions of dollars at stake, not to mention the hopes of tens of thousands of fans who had paid for tickets to see Guns N' Roses."

"The point is, the police report should not be taken at face value, and if one were to be explicit, this experience is tantamount to being held for ransom.

"If the context were any different, Axl would probably have preferred to spend the time in jail in order to ensure that all the facts were a matter of public record."

David Hasselhoff injured

Actor David Hasselhoff was rushed to a London hospital on Thursday after slicing his hand open during a bathroom accident.

The 53-year-old "Baywatch" star, who is currently in the British capital to shoot an advertising campaign, was taken from his hotel to St. Thomas' Hospital for emergency surgery.

Hasselhoff severe a tendon on shards from a glass shelf, which he accidentally smashed on the restroom wall while shaving.

A hospital aide tells British newspaper The Sun, "David was about to shave when he hit his head on a shelf, which shattered. His hand was cut quite badly."

Tommy Lee gets into tiff with actor Josh Duhamel

Tommy Lee got the better of "Las Vegas" hunk Josh Duhamel when the two rumbled at Bella nightclub in L.A. Tuesday night.

A witness tells us the drama unfolded after Duhamel pounded on the men's room door and yelled "Hurry up!" while Lee was inside. "One of Josh's friends said, 'Stop, Tommy's in there,' " reports our spy. "Josh replied, 'Tommy who? Tommy Lee, who cares?' Tommy heard that and came out of the bathroom.

Words were exchanged and Josh ended up on the floor - I don't know if he was pushed or punched. Josh bolted outside and called for Tommy to meet him and 'fight like a man.' Tommy was restrained and sent out the back door by security. Josh never did get to use the bathroom."

Jessica & Nick: THIS CLOSE to finalizing divorce

Nick and Jessica are about to make it official. In court documents made available today, Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey have asked the court to appoint a retired judge, Judge Dana Senit Henry, to enter a divorce decree, TMZ reports.

Simpson and Lachey are asking to “bifurcate” the divorce case, meaning the divorce can become final and the parties can then deal with the complicated financial matters afterward. The papers require a “sign off” from the presiding judge before it becomes official.

The judge is on vacation until next week, but after he signs it, Judge Senit Henry is expected to issue the divorce decree immediately. Simpson filed for divorce on December 16, 2005.

Don't cops have better things to do with their time?

TMZ has learned the FBI and Massachusetts authorities raided a Westfield, Mass. home Tuesday night and seized photos of a baby shower held by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

It's a bizarre story that starts in Namibia, where the shower was thrown. James Haven, Jolie's brother, took a number of pictures in Namibia. When he returned to L.A., his camera broke so he took it to Best Buy where the camera was purchased, and asked them to fix it under the warranty. Best Buy sent the camera to Precision Camera and Video Repair in Enfield, Connecticut.

Sources tell TMZ that two employees at Precision, Bill Keyes and Adam Beckwith, discovered the pictures in the digital camera. We're told that Keyes told authorities that Beckwith downloaded the photos.

Keyes mother, Madelon, told TMZ that her 36-year-old son was excited, showed her the pictures and sent an email to someone in California. Sources say the email may have been an attempt to sell the photos. Madelon Keyes told TMZ, "I don't think he would do something like that."

A sergeant from the Westfield Police Department confirmed with TMZ that authorities searched Keyes' home and seized his computer. The sergeant also said a search warrant was executed at Precision Camera and Video Repair and the actual camera that took the pictures was also seized.

Rob Schneider OK After Movie Set Collapse

Former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Rob Schneider was taken to a Northern California hospital after collapsing from food poisoning and heat exhaustion during the filming of an upcoming movie.

Schneider, 42, was filming the comedy "Big Stan" at a women's prison near Stockton, about 80 miles east of San Francisco in the San Joaquin Valley where temperatures have soared above 100 in recent days.

"The combination of bad food and the heat just hit him," said his publicist, Shara Koplowitz. She did not know what he ate but said he was treated at San Joaquin General Hospital and released Wednesday.

"He's back on the set directing today," she said Thursday.

Firefighters were called out to the set for several cases of heat exhaustion since the movie shoot began earlier this month, said firefighter Michael Olizas with the Montezuma Fire District.

Is Kathy Griffin pretending to be happily married?

Kathy Griffin is pulling the wool over our eyes in the nicest possible way. Kathy, a self confessed reality show junkie, introduced some totally UNREAL elements to her show "My Life on the D-List."

Last September Kathy filed for divorce from her "soulmate" of over four years Matthew Moline. The divorce was never finalized and Kathy claimed they were working things out. But in actuality, things DIDN'T work out, and Matthew moved into his own place last year. For this season's tapings Matt always arrived early in the morning before the cameras, and PRETENDED to be still living in Kathy's hillside mansion.

The marriage is OVER although Kathy and Matt are still good friends.

Lil' Kim to be released from prison July 3rd

Lil' Kim says she'll be celebrating Independence Day early this year. The rapper, who was sentenced in September to a year and a day in prison for lying about a shootout outside a hip-hop radio station, is being released Monday, the day before July Fourth.

"I am thrilled to be coming home," Lil' Kim said Thursday in a statement issued by her publicist, Tracy Nguyen. "I thank all my fans for all their letters, as well as my family and friends for all their support throughout the past 10 months."

The entertainer, whose real name is Kimberly Jones, began serving her time at a federal detention center in Philadelphia on Sept. 19. Her lawyer, L. Londell McMillan, noted then that she could be released early for good behavior.

"She has accepted responsibility and handled herself in an exemplary manner," McMillan said Thursday.

The rapper, who will remain under house arrest for 30 days after her release, was convicted of lying to a federal grand jury and in the subsequent trial.

The case stemmed from a gun battle that erupted outside WQHT-FM, known as Hot 97, when Lil' Kim's entourage crossed paths with a rival rap group, Capone-N-Noreaga, whose song "Bang, Bang" contains an insult to her from rival Foxy Brown. One man was hurt in the shootout that followed.

Janice Dickinson fails to return Neil Lane jewlery

Janice Dickinson has found herself on the ugly side of the beauty biz.

Jeweler-to-the-stars Neil Lane is claiming the self-proclaimed World's First Supermodel made off with thousands of dollars of borrowed baubles worn in an August 2002 photo shoot.

Neil Lane Inc. filed the breach-of-contract suit in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday, seeking compensatory damages of at least $88,000.

According to the suit, the former cover girl was loaned several pieces of jewelry for use in the photo shoot, including a pair of diamond earrings worth $52,000; a turquoise, pearl and gold necklace worth $14,000; a coral and gold necklace priced at $17,500; and turquoise and pearl earrings valued at $4,500.

"Despite numerous requests," Lane says, Dickinson has failed to return the jewelry.

For her part, the former America's Next Top Model judge claims that the sparkly trinkets were either lost or stolen from her home back in 2002 as she has been unable to find them, a message she relayed to Neil Lane's insurance company.

Per the court filing, Lane's company says its insurance company investigated Dickinson's assertion of theft "and determined that the claim was dubious."

Besides, the suit asserts that while at the photo shoot, the former Surreal Lifer signed an agreement to return all jewelry to Neil Lane, or barring that, be held financially responsible for them.

Dickinson has yet to respond to the allegations.

Warrent issued for DMX

Troubled rapper DMX is a wanted man after failing to attending a court hearing in New York state yesterday.

The hip-hop star, real name Earl SImmons, was scheduled to face several driving charges at White Plains City Court.

Judge Barbara Leak issued an arrest warrant for Simmons, insisting she was unimpressed with the star's no-show after she previously granted him two postponements.

Judge Leak said, "We have granted him a number of courtesies. It ends now."

His lawyer Stacey Murray insisted he would attend court today, claiming he had fallen ill after flying from Arizona for the court date.

On June 2, the rapper was stopped by police for speeding and cutting off another motorist in White Plains and charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. Nine days later, he was issued with a summons for driving on the hard shoulder of a road to avoid congestion in Harrison, N.Y.
